We have been married for 27 years, and started Gaean Allusions officially in 1990. It's an unusual name, we know, but it means "referring to Gaea" (the Greek name for Mother Earth) Our work begins with clay, which is as earthy as you can get :)
We started this business so we could work together, work for ourselves, and raise our 5 girls together. Traveling to events we could enjoy as a family- and make money at - was a big plus,too. The majority our first events were SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) events. In keeping with that tradition, we use our society names on this site, and remain proud members.
Our business, and our girls, have grown over the last 20 years. We're down to one at home, and she's about to graduate. We even have two granddaughters!
We still get a lot of satisfaction from working together to create functional, beautiful ware for folks to enjoy.
